TREO Announces New Board Leadership
Tucson, Arizona, July 29, 2010 – The TREO Board of Directors has elected Lisa Lovallo, Vice President and Systems Manager, Cox Communications Southern Arizona and Sharon Bronson, Vice-Chair, Pima County Board of Supervisors as Co-chairs of the public/private economic development partnership for the Tucson region. The two will serve a one year term until June 30, 2011. The new leadership structure reflects the balance needed between the private and public sectors to advance regional cooperation for higher wage jobs and opportunities for Southern Arizonans.
“The private sector does not operate just within jurisdictional lines. A private company strategically operates within market areas it feels can contribute to the viability of a product or service line, generate a customer base, or attract and retain employees. We will be that region,” said Lisa Lovallo.
“TREO’s bold, collaborative economic development approach creates a strong business advantage with industries considering relocation. Companies want prospective communities to speak with one regional voice, and that can only come from public-private partnerships where everyone is at the table with common goals,” said Sharon Bronson.
“The energies and insights of Lisa and Sharon will allow us to be very creative and strategic as we build on the foundation of TREO’s successes. In addition, this new Board structure is consistent with best practice models across the country,” said Joe Snell, TREO president and CEO.
TREO’s newly expanded Board of Directors also began terms on July 1, 2010. The TREO Board of Directors recognizes the importance of a more diversified economy and the role of the private sector in providing leadership for economic development issues.
