Arizona Job Training Grants

Offered by the Arizona Department of Commerce, this job-specific reimbursable grant program supports the design and delivery of customized training to meet specific needs of employers, create new jobs and help increase the skill and wage levels of employees in Arizona. TREO assists local businesses through the grant process by determining eligibility, development of the grant application document, and reporting.

All applications are taken on a first-come, first-served basis, and grants are awarded based on the availability of funds at the time the application is approved. Once awarded, an employer may take up to two years to complete the approved training program. As soon as the training is complete and grant is closed, the employer may apply for a new grant for additional job-specific training.

Who should apply?
  • Companies that pay into the Arizona Job Training Fund, unless exempt.
  • Companies that meet or exceed the average annual qualifying wage rate for trainees at the end of grant.
  • Companies that maintain or exceed current level of expenditures for training.

Benefits of the program:

  • Reimbursement of up to 75 percent of the cost to train new employees and up to 50 percent of the cost to train incumbent employees.
  • Any qualified training provider including the business may provide training itself.

Program note:
In early 2009, the Arizona Job Training Grant program was temporarily put on hold as the state of Arizona considers options to balance its budget. More information can be found on the Arizona Department of Commerce website at http://www.azcommerce.com/Workforce/JobTraining/.
