In October 2005 Pella Corporation and Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities, Inc. (TREO) announced a manufacturing plant expansion planned for Tucson, eventually bringing nearly 450 new jobs to Southern Arizona. As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of premium-quality windows, entry door systems and patio doors, representatives of the company were excited to bring new manufacturing jobs to the Tucson community.

“We were honored to be the first major company TREO welcomed to the region,” said Kathy Krafka Harkema, Corporate Public Relations Manager for Pella. TREO began operations July 1, 2005 and attracted Pella to the region soon after.

“A community or region first has to be a great place to live before it can ever achieve the potential as a great place to work,” said Kathy. “The Tucson region has actively welcomed Pella and we have attracted skilled team members interested in working for our company manufacturing quality windows and doors here.”

Pella currently employs more than 100 people in Southern Arizona and the company has plans for continued expansion. As the demand for ThermaStar by Pella® windows and doors continues to grow, so will jobs in Tucson. Kathy says they expect to increase the workforce over time based on current projections.

Tucson has already proven to be an ideal location for Pella operations.

“Some team members from other areas of the country have relocated to Tucson and have found it a great place to live. Other team members welcome the opportunity to visit Tucson any chance they get. Tucson features an outstanding quality of life, a wide range of recreational activities, a great climate, and easy access to many things to do within that the entire region,” said Kathy.
