2008 Community Report Card |
|
|
In March 2007, Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities, Inc. (TREO) launched the Economic Blueprint – a long term economic development strategy designed to guide our community’s economic development effort. When the Blueprint was developed with the help of more than 6,000 Tucsonans, five strategic focus areas emerged – the Power of Five – and current efforts are focused on implementing strategies from each of the five areas through work of the Blueprint Mobilization Council and its 50+ community partners.
We can only value and make smart decisions on what we can measure. The 2008 Community Report Card measures year-to-year community progress in achieving a competitive economy – the ultimate goal of the Power of Five.
These report cards, common among highly competitive communities, measure regional progress of indicators of economic health, prosperity and competitiveness. They tell us, based on an agreed set of measures among all of the organizations, whether we are advancing, falling behind or maintaining status quo – and most importantly, where our opportunities lie ahead.
In order to maintain objectivity and credibility, the University of Arizona was hired to conduct and analyze all research contained in the Report Card. The Report Card includes explanations and analysis of the indicators and compares the Tucson region’s performance with that of 10 competitor regions.
